About the Role:

Do you believe in the magic of storytelling through film? Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of filmmakers? La Nube STEAM Discovery Center is seeking a creative, kind, and tech-savvy Film Camp Instructor to lead Stories in Motion, our dynamic summer workshop for youth ages 11–17!

This is an opportunity to ignite curiosity, creativity, and collaboration through hands-on filmmaking experiences. From storyboarding and scriptwriting to filming, editing, and showcasing finished short films, you’ll guide campers through every step of the creative process — culminating in a special screening during the Plaza Film Festival!

Essential Functions:

  • Lead an inclusive, supportive, and fun filmmaking camp environment.
  • Guide youth through the entire short film production process — story development, scripting, directing, shooting, and editing.
  • Teach technical skills in cinematography, sound, lighting, and digital editing.
  • Foster collaboration among campers on group film projects.
  • Prepare and present student films at a public showcase during the Plaza Film Festival.
  • Inspire confidence and creativity in every camper, celebrating their unique voice and vision.
  • Commitment to creating hands-on curriculum and facilitating an immersive youth experience

  • This position is highly active. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:
  • Observe and react to the needs of guests, team members, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Frequent movement throughout the STEAM Center.
  • Manipulate, lift and/or move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional bending/stooping, kneeling, reaching, crouching, overhead reaching
  • Communicate safety hazards.
  • Frequent work around loud noises.
  • Rare work in outdoor elements (may consist of harsh heat or cold).
  • Rare walking on uneven surfaces.
  • Rare exposure to leaning edges and glass barriers.
  • Observe State and Federal OSHA safety standards.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Passion for filmmaking and sharing it with young people.
  • Experience in film production and digital editing.
  • Creativity, kindness, and a strong ability to connect with youth ages 11–17.
  • An inclusive mindset and enthusiasm for working with diverse learners.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Prior experience in education, youth programs, or summer camps is a plus.
