Scouts, get ready for a full day of hands-on discovery at La Nube STEAM Discovery Center. Earn up to two official Merit Badges while exploring science, creativity, and innovation at El Paso’s premier STEAM Discovery Center.

Choose from four academy workshops: Aviation, Space Exploration, Animation, and Architecture. Each session is led by expert facilitators who will guide you through real-world challenges that bring these fields to life.

Merit Badge Courses

Space Exploration Badge

Instructor: Spaceport America

Blast off into the world of rockets, satellites, and deep space discovery! Scouts will design a model rocket, explore the history of human space travel, and learn how today’s technology makes missions possible.

Architecture Badge

Instructor: Alezzandra Diaz La Nube STEAM Coordinator

Unleash your inner designer! Scouts will explore the world of architecture through hands-on sketches, models, and real-world design challenges that bring creative ideas to life. This badge introduces Scouts to the fundamentals of architecture. You’ll study design principles, create sketches or models, and explore how architects shape the spaces we live, work, and play in.

Animation Badge

Instructor: Fab Lab El Paso

From flipbooks to digital art, bring your imagination to motion! Scouts will learn key animation principles, create short animated projects, and discover how storytelling and technology come together. Through hands-on projects, they’ll learn basic animation principles, experiment with different techniques, and explore careers in digital media and entertainment.

Aviation Badge

Instructor: From Above Droneworks

Take to the skies—virtually! Scouts will learn how airplanes fly, explore careers in aviation, and experience flight concepts through models, hands-on activities, and a virtual aviation facility tour. Study the principles of flight, understand how weather affects aviation, and explore aircraft design and safety. Activities include model-building, flight demonstrations, and a virtual aviation facility tour.
